Asia Hosts the World Premiere of the New Hilux
Toyota has launched the all-new Toyota Hilux 9th Generation, the latest development of the company’s long-running worldwide pickup namesake. Built on the principles of QDR (Quality, Durability, and Reliability), the Hilux now combines ruggedness with a bold, forward-thinking design language and a more powerful engine.
Designed to satisfy the different needs of consumers throughout the world, the new Toyota New Launch Hilux exemplifies Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy by providing both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric (BEV) models from the start. The all-new Hilux is set to go on sale in Thailand on November 10 (December 10 for the BEV) and globally beginning in fiscal year 2026 (April 1, 2026 onwards), including the Philippines.

The all-new Hilux has a “Tough and Agile” design philosophy. The “Cyber Sumo” front-end is named after sumo wrestlers’ pre-combat Shikiri Stance. This underlines the Hilux’s three main characteristics: stability, strength, and steadiness. The slimmed-down grille with two-volume construction distinguishes it from other pickup trucks, while the Toyota “T” badge is replaced with the words “TOYOTA” written out on the front and back.
Meanwhile, inside, it employs the “Robust Simplicity” style, emphasizing practical utility without losing modernism. The design is intended to be ergonomic while still incorporating cutting-edge technology, such as an automatic parking brake with auto hold, a wireless charger, a huge digital instrument cluster (up to 12.3 inches), and a wide free-standing infotainment touchscreen.
Toyota All-New 9th Generation Hilux with More Power and Better Efficiency
Along with the diesel-powered Hilux, a new battery-electric model has been unveiled. This BEV model, officially known as the “Hilux Travo-e” in Thailand (Hilux EV elsewhere), is the brand’s first commercially accessible body-on-frame BEV. The Hilux EV provides immediate power and quiet performance with zero tailpipe emissions while maintaining the model’s fundamental features, including off-road articulation (500 mm), water wading (700 mm), towing (2,000 kilograms), and payload capacity (715 kilos). The twin motor system generates 196 horsepower in total, and with a 52.9-kWh battery, it can go up to 315 kilometers on a single charge. A Diamond Guard provides strong underbody protection for the battery, ensuring peace of mind even while driving off-road.
